Deeply rooted in both music and storytelling, Devine Evans is a multi-award-winning Composer whose work bridges the worlds of film, television, and live performance. With over two decades of experience, he has crafted scores and soundscapes that elevate powerful narratives, from his NAACP Image Award–winning score for The New Edition Story to his sonic contributions for global icons like Beyoncé, Rihanna, Pharrell Williams, and Justin Timberlake.
Earning recognition as a composer and sound designer, Devine’s work has been featured in acclaimed films and streaming specials, including Rihanna: Savage X Fenty Show Vol. 1, 2, and 3 (Amazon Prime), Rihanna 777 (Apple), and Homecoming: A Film by Beyoncé (Netflix). His credits extend across music-driven narratives and groundbreaking performances, such as Beyoncé’s Coachella set and Super Bowl halftime shows for both Beyoncé (2013) and Justin Timberlake (2018).
Versatility has defined Devine’s career, allowing him to thrive in multiple musical settings. From providing underscore and programming for feature films to orchestrating unforgettable live tours like Janet Jackson’s Unbreakable World Tourand Charlie Puth’s global performances, Devine has consistently brought cinematic depth to projects spanning pop, R&B, hip hop, and orchestral mediums. His ability to adapt across genres ensures his voice as a composer remains distinctive and sought after.
In addition to his creative work, Devine has built his career on education and community. He earned his degree in Music Production from Full Sail University and is currently pursuing his Master’s in Film Composition at Berklee College of Music, where his focus lies in advancing orchestral and hybrid scoring for film, television, and interactive media. His academic journey continues to refine his technical precision and broaden his creative palette as a composer.
Not limited to the studio, Devine has also become a voice for advocacy within the entertainment industry. His self-published book, Sheet Music: The Diary of a Songwriter, co-written with 124 women worldwide, sheds light on the injustices women face in music and film. The project has evolved into a larger mission of empowerment, blending music, storytelling, and activism to spark cultural change.
Engaged with the composer community, Devine is an active member of the Composers Diversity Collective, Society of Composers & Lyricists, Academy of Scoring Arts, American Federation of Musicians, Vancouver International Film Festival (VIFF), and the Recording Academy’s Songwriters & Composers Wing. His memberships reflect a deep commitment not only to his craft but to the future of the scoring community as a whole.
